Unexplained Mysteries – West Lothian UFO

The sighting of Unidentified Flying Objects has fascinated millions over the years. Many dismiss the stories and regard them as an individual’s overly active imagination. The scepticism is understandable given sighting are difficult to prove when there is no physical evidence and just a sighting of a UFO in the sky.

However, in the mid 1970s, two UFO incidents occurred at West Lothian in Scotland that intrigued numerous people and left many unanswered questions. Three young boys were walking through a park in the township of Whitburn one night when they sighted a large circle of light approximately 20 feet in diameter and situated about 30 feet away from them.

The object moved towards them flying about 20 feet off the ground at an extremely high speed. The UFO proceeded to the opposite end of the park before disappearing. Later on that evening two of the boys found themselves ½ mile away from the park. The next day none of them could remember any details of the incident. It was not until many years later that they started to recall something of the night.

In another incident apparently unrelated, a man called Bob Taylor experienced an actual physical encounter with a UFO at Livingstone, a short distance from Whitburn. Taylor was a forestry worker employed by the Livingston Corporation. One day he drove to a forest track near the M8 Highway to carry out inspections of the area. After parking his vehicle, he started walking along the trail. Suddenly, emerging into a clearing, he came upon a spherical object sitting on the ground. It was silver or white in colour with dark patches or portholes around its body. After moving closer, he stopped and starred in amazement at the object. Two metallic spherical shaped robotic shapes dropped from the underside of the object grasping him and then dragging him back to the UFO.

Taylor told the authorities, that after being grabbed, he started to lose consciousness, but before he blacked out, he recalled smelling an unpleasant acrid odour. The next thing he remembered was awakening to a hissing sound. Looking around he could not see the object anywhere, but his trousers were torn and his skin had deep scratches. Taylor recalls lying on the ground for some time before he could walk or talk properly. Apart from having a bad headache, he had a shocking pain in his chin and felt sick. After the police carried out an investigation of the area, they discovered strange impressions in the ground that did not resemble any other vehicles’ tyre treads. When they carried out forensic testing on Taylor’s clothing and body, they could not find any other DNA evidence or explanation for the damage to his clothes. Years later, a West Lothian film company made a Documentary of the incident, but unfortunately, Taylor had passed away. The company’s investigations showed that he was a sincere person and honest in his reporting of the incident.
