Conspiracy Theory, Richard Donner, 1997
Conspiracy Theory from Richard Donner stars Mel Gibson as Jerry Fletcher and Julia Roberts as Alice Sutton. Sutton, an attorney, is trying to get to the bottom of her father’s murder. Meanwhile, Fletcher stumbles upon a nasty government plot that has him shaking in his boots.
When Fletcher’s and Sutton’s paths cross, Fletcher simply comes across as crazy mainly because his time spent fighting during the Vietnam War has plagued him with dreams and has left him suspicious of everything. However, Fletcher soon convinces Sutton that he not as crazy as she once thought and the two set out to unravel the government plot together.
The movie has plenty of action sequences and a lot of mystery that may keep the viewer guessing. That being said, it may have been nice if the action sequences had been a little bit more original. As for the actual storyline, some viewers may find the script to be a little simplistic since all of the answers seem to appear at just the right time. Despite this, Donner does a good job with what he has to work with until the end when it seems that he copped out in order to please audiences. Gibson and Roberts also do an excellent job with the material. Gibson often sinks his teeth into the many rants that Fletcher has during the movie and he does well with the comedy portion of the movie.
Viewers may also enjoy the comedy that was thrown into the movie. In the end, the movie was mainly mediocre and only slightly entertaining. Visit this site for ssd drives.
